Academy Cars was formed by partners Mark Harrison and Keith Evans in 2005. The aim then, as now, was to provide a personal but professional service for airport transfers and other longer-distance travel. This philosophy has proved to be correct and Academy Cars enjoys a very high rate of repeat and recommended business.
Whilst airport transfers were the original target market, the business has developed substantially and now also offers transfers to and from cruise and Eurostar terminals, business and corporate travel and private itineraries such as nights out at restaurants and theatres, wedding shuttles, Ladies nights, etc.
Academy cars will not do hen nights, stag nights, pubs or nightclubs.
Academy Cars have two spacious 6-seater people-carriers, each with a high-specification including privacy glass, dual-zone air-conditioning and laptop points. One was new in October 2008, the other is being replaced in September 2009. There is also a spacious estate car.
All cars are tested twice a year in accordance with Council regulations. The drivers are experienced, personable and professional. All drivers are CRB and health-checked.
Academy cars are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Prior booking is essential. Regular work for Academy Cars includes many holidaymakers to and from Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports, business travellers to and from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports and wedding shuttles from the reception to homes and hotels.
Other work has been transfers between Heathrow airport or central London to Dover Cruise terminal for clients of an American holiday company plus cruise clients at Southampton, Harwich and Tilbury. Business and corporate travel has involved Barnsley with overseas businessmen and Manchester for a television company.
The Eurostar is also a regular source of business at Ashford International, Ebbsfleet or St. Pancras. Overseas students also keep us busy to and from host families or between airports and their private schools.
